Dutch Workshop on Theoretical Philosophy, Eindhoven, 2 November, 2012

(philosophers' heads by Eveline van Duyl)

Catarina Dutilh Novaes (Groningen)

Thomas Mueller (Utrecht)

Hans Radder (Amsterdam)

Marc Slors (Nijmegen)

Sonja Smets (Amsterdam / Groningen)

Primary aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers in the Netherlands who work in theoretical philosophy: logic, the philosophy of mind, philosophy of science and technology, epistemology, metaphysics and/or the philosophy of language. With five presentations of work in these fields by prominent researchers, the workshop is meant to give an overview of the state-of-the-art in theoretical philosophy in the Netherlands.

The workshop is inspired by the initiative to start a Netherlands Research School in Philosophy (to be decided within the next weeks). It will be held parallel to the Fourth Annual Dutch Conference on Practical Philosophy, and a Workshop on the History of Philosophy. With these three events, all philosophers working in the Netherlands are invited for a conference or workshop in the Auditorium building on the Eindhoven University of Technology campus on 2 November, with a shared dinner.

This workshop is a joint initiative of Mieke Boon (Twente), Peter Kroes (Delft), Jan-Willem Romeijn (Groningen), Marc Slors (Nijmegen), Reinhard Muskens and Jan Sprenger (Tilburg), Martin Stokhof (Amsterdam), Rineke Verbrugge (Groningen), Albert Visser (Utrecht), Jack Vromen (Rotterdam), René van Woudenberg (Amsterdam) and Anthonie Meijers and Wybo Houkes (local organisers; Eindhoven).

The workshop will take place from 10am to 6.30pm.

** Note: Partial change of location ** The morning session, including lunch, will be in the ECIS-lounge on the 2nd floor of the IPO-building.

The afternoon sessions will be in  Room 4 of the Auditorium building of Eindhoven University of Technology, followed by dinner at the same location.

See here for travel information. A campus map with both buildings (marked "IPO" and "AUD") can be found here.

Participation is open to all, and costs €25, for coffee and tea, lunch, dinner and five excellent talks. Participants are kindly requested to register in advance by sending an email either to Wybo Houkes (w.n.houkes@tue.nl) or Rianne Schaaf (m.j.schaaf@tue.nl). The fee is payable on site.
